Thread Veins

Knees
Thread veins, also known as broken veins
typically appear on our cheeks and around our nose.
These veins affect up to 88% of women and 79% of men and can affect your confidence as they can be quite prominent.

What Are Thread Veins?

They are tiny blood vessels that run close to the skin’s surface and are visible through the top layer of our skin in the form of thin lines, webs, or branches that may be flat or slightly raised. People sometimes also refer to them as spider veins.

Funnily enough they are not actually broken.

What Causes Veins?

  • Environmental factors

  • Genetics

  • Rosacea

  • Trauma to the skin

How do we treat them?

We use IPL (intense pulsed light) or shortwave diathermy which targets the vessel walls, causing them to collapse and break up. They are then absorbed by normal waste processes in the body and excreted.

If your thread veins are caused by rosacea (a progressive skin condition) then it will be necessary to use appropriate homecare products to help calm and strengthen your skin.

During your treatment plan, follow up reviews and photographs are taken so that the results of your treatment can be measured.
